Trezor Suite is the official companion app for Trezor hardware wallets, and it’s a legitimate, actively maintained product—unlike the discontinued Jaxx Liberty. However, “better” depends on what you’re comparing it to. Here’s an honest look at what Trezor Suite actually offers and where it falls short.

What Trezor Suite Does Well

It’s the official, secure interface for your hardware wallet. Your private keys never leave the Trezor device; Suite is just the dashboard for sending, receiving, buying, swapping, and staking . The desktop app is generally recommended over the web version because it reduces the risk of landing on a phishing site . Broad asset and dApp support. Suite supports thousands of coins and tokens across networks like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and more . Through WalletConnect, you can connect to 70,000+ dApps and DeFi protocols while keeping keys on the hardware wallet . It also integrates with 30+ third-party wallets like MetaMask and Rabby . Built-in trading and staking. You can buy, sell, and swap directly in the app, with fees shown upfront . Staking is available for Ethereum, Cardano, and Solana . Note that swap rates come from third-party partners, and some users have complained about the spreads . Active development. Trezor ships regular updates. Recent additions include biometric unlock (Touch ID/Face ID/Windows Hello), MEV protection on Ethereum/Base/BNB Chain, passphrase support up to 128 characters, and mobile ADA sending .

Where Trezor Suite Falls Short

Mobile is limited for most models. Only the Trezor Safe 7 gets full iOS functionality via Bluetooth. Older models (Safe 5, Safe 3, Model T, Model One) have limited iOS compatibility—you can track balances and receive, but need a desktop or Android device to actually send funds . The Android app also has performance complaints in reviews . Portfolio tracking is basic. Users and even Trezor’s own support acknowledge that Solana doesn’t appear in portfolio graphs, and more advanced analytics are missing . If you want deep tax or performance tracking, you’ll need external tools. Web version has browser restrictions. The web app only works in Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera)—no Firefox or Safari—and it’s USB-only, no Bluetooth . You’re locked into the Trezor ecosystem for the full experience. While you can use your Trezor with third-party wallets, Suite is the only place where everything (firmware updates, device settings, native trading) comes together. That’s convenient, but it’s also a single point of dependency.

Disclaimer

Trezor Suite is a solid, security-focused companion app if you already own a Trezor. It’s not the most polished or feature-rich interface in crypto, but it does the core job—keeping your keys offline while letting you manage assets—without the scam risk that now surrounds abandoned wallets like Jaxx Liberty. If you’re choosing a Trezor model specifically for Suite use, the Safe 7 is the only one that gives full mobile functionality on both iOS and Android . For desktop-first users, a Safe 3 or Safe 5 is cheaper and covers the essentials.
